We just found a 'NEW' crank.

Dick has managed to get hold of an original Triumph single piece crank believed to be made for John Hobbs of The Hobbit fame! It is much stronger as Triumph cast these as is for him and no sludge trap exists to weaken the structure. An amazing find, and a very strong crank to boot.

We have a crank

Dick found a really nice crank for the project, excellent condition and on it's original grind.

Motor

Work on the motor has started, the cases have been milled out for additional clearance for the vicious cams we are using, and the bronze bushes will be replaced with needle bearings.

Frame changed, seat frame tacked on for fitting

Bike on the ramp now, the sharper sighted of you will see we decided to go with the duplex frame instead. As you can see I had a seat fitting Thursday, positioning is spot on but the hoop will be removed and remade 2" higher. Just tacked on for now anyways. Rearsets next.

The Frame

The frame has finally arrived so we can begin the build of the rolling chassis. For your information the frame was built by Lucas and the cool guys at The Factory Metal Works (www.thefactorymetalworks.com) over in Charlotte, North Carolina. It features a 4" stretch and an increased rake of 32 degrees for high speed stability.

The Epsom 'Salt'

After seeing Sumo, Lars and Tyler's Bonneville projects online I have decided to build a bike to take to Bonneville in August 2012. I have scored a great matched set of 6T crankcases so from you you can tell it will be a pre-unit build. The fun now begins in sourcing all the bits necessary to finish the build. I will be relying heavily on Dick and the crew at Barons Speed Shop.
